AL Berlanga

AL Berlanga

Born in 1965, AL began playing guitar at age 9.  In the years to come legends like Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page were the inspiration to continue and improve.  The late 70's saw a change in styles with bands like Van Halen and Iron Maiden and AL gravitated to that progressive guitar sound.  Also legendary fusion players like AL DiMeola and John McLaughlin had an large impact on which direction AL wanted to go, guitar-wise.  But it was mostly the New British wave of heavy metal during the early 80's that determined the sound Syrus would most end up aligning with.  The twin guitar harmony style was a perfect fit for the band and led to many creative ideas.  It still is today the driving force behind the sound of Syrus.
John Castilleja

John Castilleja

John, born in 1965, picked up his first guitar right around 13 years of age.  Inspired by guitar great Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, John metal soul was forever altered!  Later other legends of metal such as KK Downing and Glenn Tipton from Judas Priest help solidify his creative direction.  Early bands included cover acts playing metal favs such as Judas, Maiden, Sabbath, Van Halen and more.  But when Syrus was born, it was original music that moved to the forefront and the twin guitar attack heard on the album and countless demos became the signature sound of the band.

Tony Ramos

Tony Ramos

Syrus drummer, Tony Ramos, first started his musical journey by playing the saxophone and clarinet. Since these instruments were all ready being played by an older sister which made them readily available.  School band was the next step for Tony where his learning of music theory helped him appreciate all styles of music.  But it was his desire to play drums in a rock-n-roll band, just like his heroes, that fueled his motivation.  At 13 his parents eventually bought him his first drum kit. This led to a switch in school band also and there was no looking back after that!  Tony's experience has taken him across the US and that experience is evident on the Album.
Dan Jimenez

Dan Jimenez

Dan discovered the love of his life around the age of 14 when a 1960's Gibson Ripper was given to him by a friend who watched him continuously play air guitar.  A short time later he was playing covers with his friends; Dio, Iron Maiden, etc.  Bass Man Dan was born!

As time passed influences from such legends as Cliff Burton, Steve Harris, Geezer Butler to name a few help expand and shape Dan's style. It is this style that pushes Dan forward to create!  Having contributed to many bands on the local and regional scene, Dan now lays the foundation for Syrus!
